What kind of rubber used on rubber coated magnets?

Rubber coated magnets are also called rubberized magnets, they are widely used for temporary or permanent mounting, fastening or holding items such as work lights, beacons, ladders, instruments and other different devices.

Threaded with different kinds of clamps and hooks, these magnets with rubber coat can be used as magnetic cable holder for wire mounting. As its name suggest, the rubber outside plays very important role in the complete part.

Weizhong Magnetics manufactures completely full range of rubber coated magnets. At the very beginning, most of the magnets were coated with NBR or EPDM which are also the common ones for these magnets. But after a long period of experiments and tests, Santoprene TPV rubber finally stands out from all of them. The excellent performance and stable properties are the main reasons that we choose them and received high praise and acceptance among our customers.

What is Santoprene TPV ?

TPV is short for thermoplastic vulcanizate which is a part of the thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) family of polymers, but it is closest in elastomeric properties to EPDM rubber, combining the characteristics of vulcanized rubber with the processing properties of thermoplastics.

TPV is a dynamically vulcanized alloy consisting mostly of fully cured EPDM rubber particles encapsulated in a polypropylene (PP) matrix. And Santoprene is a trademark of this kind of TPV.

Why we chose the Santoprene rubber and what are the advantages?

When we are in the extremely harsh environment, like in the water, oil, corrosive, torried heat or bitter cold, the normal steel pot with Nickle, Zinc or Chrome coating will easily get rusted and peeled off. Then the rubber coated magnets were born at the right moment who can manage all these problems.

Rubber coated magnets are called rubber coated which is because that the rubber is just like a coat for the complete part. Magnets and steel parts inside do not have to bear the harsh weather while the rubber is capable all of them.

Comparing with EPDM, NBR, Santorene TPV combines the features of vulcanized rubber with the processing properties of thermoplastics. It has almost perfect performance and characters in the resistance of strong pulling force,  durable, high traction, corrosion resistant, temperature resistant, waterproof, magnets do not easily chip etc
